Knitted silk ties

Knitted ties
Silk, Cashmere, lambs wool or various blends of silk and wool can be used for knitted ties. The finest ties are knitted on a Cotton Frame invented by William Cotton in 1864 and known as the Bentley machine. The silk is prepared by twisting 4 threads of silk together and then twisting 8 lots of the 4 threads giving a total of 32 threads, which gives the tie a tightly woven luxurious feel.
